Today, according to Vienna police, more than 40,000 people have demonstrated against government pandemic measures. At times, the behavior of some groups was quite aggressive, leading to the fall of the iron fences and arrests, BTA reported.

–About 1,200 police officers were mobilized. According to the police, the situation was very dynamic and the arrests were made due to the danger of resistance against the state authorities. Groups of demonstrators threw pyrotechnics, in response, police used hot spray.
A relatively small demonstration of supporters of the measures took place in the city center. Police prevented the two streams from meeting in order to avoid possible clashes.
With banners, flags and drums, anti-vaxers chanted slogans against government policies, and police suggested many groups from the provinces took part.
And the Viennese police were supported by colleagues from all over Austria. Despite police checks for distance and wearing masks, few protesters complied.
According to the police, since the beginning of the lockdown and after the announcement of the mandatory immunization on social networks, calls for actions in hospitals have been repeatedly made. So far, there have been no major events, except last week, when medical staff were booed in front of the University Clinic in Salzburg.
The Ministry of Interior has ordered increased security of hospitals. Today, Viennese hospitals were under special guard. “As in other large demonstrations, critical infrastructures are especially guarded to prevent damage,” a police spokesman told Radio Vienna.
