Big blow for SLOVAKIA! A LEGENDARY hockey player died

BRATISLAVA – Hockey Slovakia is mourning. Jozef Čapla, former great defender of Slovan Bratislava and the Czechoslovak national team, died in Augsburg, Germany at the age of 84.

As HC Slovan informs on its official website, Čapla was a solid part of the defense of the multiple crown prince of the federal league throughout the 60s of the last century, until his departure to Germany in 1969. He also entered hockey history forever as the inventor of the legendary hockey stick with with a bent blade, which was named “Alpačka” (Capla’s last name backwards). The news of his father’s death was conveyed to the club by his son Boris, a well-known hockey manager, especially of German and Czech hockey clubs. “We express our sincere condolences to the family of Jozef Čapla and ask all Slovan fans to pay him a silent tribute”supplied by HC Slovan Bratislava.
