U.S. President Joe Biden pulled out a sanctions card against Myanmar’s military forces in the coup.

President Biden said in a speech on the 10th (local time) that he had approved a new executive order sanctioning military leaders in Myanmar. “We will finalize the first sanctions this week and impose strong export controls,” he said.

Military leaders, families, and corporations are mentioned among the sanctions.

In addition, President Biden said, “We will prevent the military from improperly accessing the $1 billion of Myanmar government funds in the United States.” If so, I will keep the support.”

President Biden said he is in close contact with allies and partners in the United States and that he will continue to cooperate so that other countries can join the sanctions. It also demanded the Myanmar military to renounce power and release state advisor Aung San Suu Kyi.

President Biden’s speech that day was not as long as four minutes. It was made urgently prior to the planned visit to the Ministry of Defense.
