Biden Administration fires Trump immigration advisers

Biden continues to erase any trace of Trump in his Administration and dispenses with those who were his independent advisers

The White House has announced the dismissal of most of the members of the independent advisory board of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in charge of contributing to the master lines of immigration policy, appointed during the Trump Administration, in full reshaping of the management of the arrival of migrants to the United States.

The announcement was made this Friday by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, and affects practically all the members of the so-called Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). “From March 26 ends the term of the current members of the HSAC, always at the service of an orderly transition, “according to a letter collected by Politico.

The council, made up of former intelligence and security officials and other experts who advise the secretary on a number of policy matters, it will be re-formed “in the coming weeks, and from a new model.”

The letter supposes the effective dismissal of, among others, the former director of the National Security Agency Keith Alexander, the former acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli and the former acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) Tom Homan.

Mayorkas, however, specified that William Bratton, the former New York City Police Commissioner, and Karen Tandy, former head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, will remain in their respective roles of president and vice president. Former FBI and CIA Director William Webster will also remain in his role as President Emeritus.
