BFV position on the inclusion of Delay Sports Berlin e. V. ǀ Berliner Fußball-Verband e. V

The Berlin Football Association has given the newly founded club special permission to play in the district league C, subject to certain conditions.

In its meeting on May 25, 2022, the BFV Presidium appointed the association Delay Sports Berlin e. V. was confirmed as a full member of the association and the 1st men’s team was granted special permission to play in the district league C of the 2022/23 season. The association had previously been able to successfully demonstrate that the basic requirements for the application for exception were met. The newly founded club does not have to belong to the BFV leisure league for at least three years, as is generally required, but can participate directly in regular BFV game operations.

This exceptional playing permit is also linked to other conditions that the club must meet by June 30, 2024. This includes the registration of at least two youth teams that have to participate in BFV games for at least two full seasons without interruption. The promotion of the referee: internal area by reporting at least two referees must be proven by the above deadline. The conditions apply to Delay Sports as they do to any other candidate for full membership. All the requirements can be found in the BFV admissions requirements.

“All of Berlin’s football can benefit”

Exceptions like these are possible in justified cases. The concept submitted by the club and the fact that there are no climbers from the leisure sector in the district league C for the 2022/23 season led to the decision of the BFV Executive Committee to approve Delay Sports’ application for membership under the conditions mentioned.

“We are deliberately taking a new path with this decision and are convinced that all of Berlin’s football can benefit from the innovative power and reach of Delay Sports,” explains Malte Schruth, BFV Presidential Member for Innovation, Club and Association Development and Qualification. “The founder of the association, Elias Nerlich, reaches millions of young people and young adults in Germany with his streams. If this attention is used for sustainable development and to promote social commitment, it is a gain for the club landscape in our city.”

With the admission of the new club, the line of the future project “Future BFV” is also being pursued, the vision of which is to be the most innovative and professional association in the DFB by 2025.
