Yesterday, 30 June 2020, the press release of the Revenue Agency on the scam email that has been circulating via the web in recent days. Yet another phishing attempt with the aim of obtaining confidential information directly from recipients. The Tax Administration is warning all taxpayers against the attempted scam. Before we understand what can happen, let’s remember what phishing is.
Phishing is and how it works
In recent months, we often hear about phishing, so let’s try to understand what it is and how it works. Phishing is a type of scam made on the internet through user deception. It takes the form of deceptive emails. With phishing, the attacker, pretending to be a reliable entity, tries to convince the victim baited on the net to provide all the personal, financial and access codes. The purpose is to obtain access data to online financial services or others that require registration in any case. Among the very recent attempts of phishing we also remember that of the INPS.
Beware of the Revenue Agency scam email: here’s what can happen
The Revenue Agency invites all users to pay close attention to any emails received from the Financial Administration. In fact, he recommends that you immediately trash all e-mail messages that contain the wording “THE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY” in the subject. In false messages, users are invited to view the Office documents contained in an attached .zip archive, to “verify the compliance of their payments”. Therefore, if you have received such an email, trash it directly, without opening any links and no attachments in the email.

Remember that the Revenue Agency never requests users’ personal data via e-mail.
These data are, in fact, available only in tax drawer through the Fisconline or Entratel services. So if you receive similar messages, beware of the Revenue Agency scam email.
