JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Realization car sell in the domestic market in February 2021 experienced a decline of up to 15 percent as a result of the discourse on the imposition of a Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM) up to 100 percent.
Industry Association Motor vehicle Indonesia (Gaikindo) noted, the achievement of sales from factories to dealers on a monthly basis during the period fell 7.5 percent from 52,909 units to 49,202 units.
Meanwhile, in terms of direct sales to consumers or retail, minus 15 percent, from 53,996 units to 46,943 units. Not quite improving from the trend of the last three months of last year.

As for the annual sales performance (year-on-year/ yoy), both of them fell to the 60 percent level. The details, wholesales fell 61.9 percent while retail slowed down 65.9 percent.
However, the association believes that the market slowdown will not last long because the government has provided relaxation so that people’s purchasing power will increase motor vehicle growing again starting March 1, 2021.
On the same data, Honda Brio again crowned as the best-selling car model beating its competitors including Toyota Avanza and Mitsubishi Xpander, after growing from 3,840 units to 4,173 units.
Indeed, these achievements have not actually improved from last year or before the Covid-19 pandemic. But the positive and consistent trends shown by Brio are worthy of appreciation.

While in second place, Suzuki Carry is still occupied with sales figures of 3,216 units, down slightly from the previous month’s 3,814 units.
Then, in sequence followed by Toyota Innova (3,123 units), Daihatsu Gran Max PU (2,991 units), and Toyota Calya (2,780 units).
The vehicle models that usually fill the top five rankings, namely the Toyota Rush, Avanza, and Xpander, this time seem to have slumped. They can only record sales of no more than 2,200 units, so they have to settle for perching in the bottom position.
