Musical muses! Kylie Jenner, Megan Fox and more celebrities have memorable appearances in other stars’ music videos.
In May 2020, the Transformers actress caused a stir with a steamy performance as the love interest in her then-boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly’s video “Bloody Valentine.” The two nearly closed lips in the playful image almost confirmed that sparks flew between the two.
“Megan thinks MGK is a really cool guy,” an insider exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “They’ve definitely hooked up and are seeing where things are going.”
The couple met while filming ‘Midnight in the Switchgrass’ and fueled romance rumors after Fox split from her husband of almost 10 years, Brian Austin Green. A month after the music video debuted, a source confirmed that the New Girl alum and the rapper are “officially dating and describing each other as boyfriend and girlfriend.”
While some music video cameos have romantic appeal, others stir up controversy. Jenner showed off her stuff in the video for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s NSFW single “WAP,” but some fans weren’t too happy with her featured moment.
“Normani did all this and Kylie walked down the hall and opened a door,” one fan tweeted in August 2020 after seeing the rappers’ video. “If that isn’t a perfect visual cue that black women need to do the most and white women need to do the least to make things happen, I don’t know what is.”
Despite the negativity surrounding the Keeping Up With the Kardashian star’s cameo, the Grammy winner held her ground.
“Normani is one of the best artists who dances like she’s going to kick her ass off! Why would she open a door? Please tell me how that would make sense?” Cardi responded on Twitter. “The best part of the song is the beat and hook that makes you want to shake your ass. … Not everything is about race.”
In another post, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper explained the reasons for Jenner’s surprise music video moment.
“Why did I put Kylie in my music video? She treated my sister [Hennessy] and daughter [Kulture] so nice to her kid [Stormi’s] Birthday party,” she tweeted, adding that other members of Jenner’s family would often give her “advice on certain things I ask for.”
