“The Bernard-Landry Day aims to interest Quebecers of all ages in the immense legacy that this visionary left in Quebec in 50 years of public life”, explained in a press release Jean-Yves Duthel, secretary general of the Cercle friends of Bernard Landry.

In addition to speeches, interviews and roundtable discussions on these two issues, the Grands Prix de la Relève – Prix Bernard-Landry scholarships were awarded to creators under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in the design of video games and creation in culture.

“One of Bernard Landry’s most important legacies is what he did for the video game industry. He is the one who set up the foundations of this industry in Quebec. […] then, thanks to its audacity, the video game industry is now our pride in Quebec, ”said Quebec Premier François Legault, during a recorded speech.

The Bernard-Landry Francophilia Cultural Prize was also awarded to Jean-François Payette, a university teacher whose research focuses in particular on nationalism and the international Francophonie.

“It is necessary to think of Bernard Landry, who has taken all the necessary efforts to protect our beautiful French language, because it is also and above all this receptacle of our culture and our identity”, declared in a video recording Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor and President of the Chopin-Péladeau Foundation.

“It is important to remember that our common language, the common language of the Quebec nation, is French, then French unfortunately will always be fragile in North America,” insisted Mr. Legault.
