The Charité Wedding, Steglitz and Mitte offices are affected by the strike on Wednesday. The strike is extraordinary.

Berlin. On Wednesday 5 October 2022, the Charité will face another warning blow. The medical union Marburger Bund has called for a one-day break from work. The locations of Wedding, Steglitz and Mitte are interested. Doctors are demanding an improvement in their work situation and their pay. According to the union, emergency services will be provided during the strike.

The central meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 9.30 at the Charité bed tower in Mitte. The strike is unusual on this scale: according to the doctors’ union, this will be the first strike by doctors in a Charité facility in 15 years.

Charité: interruption of work at the largest university hospital in Europe

The strike at Europe’s largest university hospital follows a series of negotiations on the company’s collective agreement. The chairman of the board of directors of the Marburger Bund Berlin / Brandenburg, Peter Bobbert, explained that the members of the Charité expect better working conditions and pay that match their performance. “If employers are absolutely unwilling to meet these demands, we need to respond accordingly,” said Bobbert.
