Press reports yesterday spoke of star Karim Benzema as he nears recovery from his injury and the possibility of him re-joining the France national team in the 2022 World Cup.
Benzema is still officially in the French squad for the World Cup, despite his pre-tournament injury which has kept him out of competition, as he has returned to Madrid for treatment.
But France coach Didier Deschamps denied these rumors at a press conference.
Deschamps said: “This is not a matter that worries me. I don’t know what to say. I spoke to Benzema after he left, and you know his condition and the time he needs to recover.”
He added: “I’ll let you discuss the issue and imagine. I won’t talk about topics that are not on our agendas at the World Cup.”
Interestingly, the French national team was the first to qualify for the second round of the 2022 World Cup, winning the first two games, and will play the third match against Tunisia.
