As our national football team confirmed progress to the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, coach Paulo Bento and captain Son Heung-min each spoke to president Yoon Seok-yeol.
In a phone call with Bento, chairman Yoon said, “After watching the players’ interviews, I could see that the respect for the coach was really great.”
In response, Director Bento said, “It’s an honor that people are proud of it and I’m grateful that the president has reached out to me directly.”
President Yoon asked for good guidance so that our players can show their skills with confidence even in the round of 6 scheduled for the 6th, and coach Bento responded by saying, “I will do my best.”
Son Heung-min also spoke with President Yoon.
President Yoon said, “Is your face okay? I was nervous about what to do if I hurt myself more,” and Sohn said, “I’m preparing well with the thought of dedicating myself to the country.”
When chairman Yoon also encouraged him, saying, “Our players seem to get more confident as the days go by, I was proud to watch the game leading my colleagues and juniors well with the captaincy,” said Son Heung-min, ” Our players have a very strong will, I will prepare well for the match.”
The president’s office said the call was made today at lunchtime in Qatar local time after the national team players had taken a break.
