Benoot does not take a risk for Tour and leaves Dauphiné with back pain | Dauphiné

Tiesj Benoot had shown himself in the opening stage of the Dauphiné, but had to release early in the second stage uphill due to back pain. Today he got back on the saddle, but his test did not last long.

“Tiesj had problems with his back”, says team doctor Anko Boelens. “He got treatment last night and we wanted to see how he felt today on the bike.”

“But with the Tour de France coming up, we didn’t want to take any risks. Getting off the race was therefore the best option to focus on treatment.”

After the assignments of Quinten Hermans, Brent Van Moer, Mauri Vansevenant and now also Benoot, there are 12 Belgians in the race in France.
