Benimar: The Spanish Motorhome and Campervan Brand Taking Europe by Storm

Motorhome owners have known the Benimar brand for some time, but many may not know that this is a Spanish brand and that these motorhomes and campervans are built in a factory in the tourist town of Peñicola on the Costa del Azahar in the province of Castellón (Valencia region). This year, the European meeting where companies come was also held in Peñiscola, something where the company has now signed a mega contract.

Company benimar , located in Peñíscola (Castellón) and founded in 1974, now has three production sites for campervans and motorhomes, mobile homes and associated specific furniture. The company employs a total of 590 employees and has an annual turnover of 200 million euros. Benimar has been a member of the French Trigano group since 2002, a collective that includes 27 European motorhome brands.

The company has been this year meeting celebrated in the Valencia region. “The main changes this year relate to the interior design and the adaptation of models to meet the new market requirements. This includes reducing the width for access to rougher areas and shortening the length in certain cases, such as campervans. In this way, we want to make ourselves accessible to target groups who have less experience driving motorhomes,” explains Fernando Ortiz, the company’s manager.

In just 48 hours, Benimar, the only company in Spain producing motorhomes and campervans on an industrial scale, has completed a significant sale of more than 3,000 motorhomes. These sales represent 90% of their annual turnover. The news came after a European meeting where the company introduced its 2024 models and received orders from more than 180 European dealers, including 25 in Spain. This meeting was held in El Puig and was open to the press and specialized public.

Of manager van Benimar speaks of ‘pan-European vehicles’, meaning that the company produces identical models for both Spanish and Norwegian customers. The company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary since it was founded in 1974, sees 15% of its sales take place in Spain, with the remaining 85% going to other European countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Germany, as well as New Zealand outside of Europe. The vehicles are sold on average for prices between 58,000 and 100,000 euros.
