Valdo sees Benfica with a hand at the national title in 2023. The former midfielder for the reds believes that something very strange would have to happen for Roger Schmidt’s team not to celebrate the championship this season.
“With the tie between Sp. Braga and FC Porto, I’m not saying that the title belongs to Benfica, but only a hecatomb would make it not be champion”, he stressed in declarations to Rádio Renascença, about the 10 points to the 25th round, about the 2nd place, FC Porto.
The former Brazilian international, champion at Luz on two occasions, also discussed his journey in the Champions League. “The objective is always the national championship, which is very important for Rui Costa’s management. In the Champions League he was fortunate to be on the weaker side. I think Benfica has both fronts in their hands. Without making too much noise. , is showing the whole of Europe that Benfica is once again the great Benfica”, says Valdo, 59 years old.
