After several political actors of the ruling party raised the idea of postponing the plebiscite on October 25, the government spokesman Jaime Bellolio assured that it is an obligation for the Executive to carry out said process on the date already stipulated.
“For the Government, the holding of the plebiscite on October 25 is an obligation,” said the Segegob minister on Friday.
“We not only respect, but we want to enforce the Constitution and today, in the Constitution it appears that there is a plebiscite that has two perfectly legitimate alternatives and what we want is that it be carried out safely,” he argued.

Along the same lines, Bellolio remarked that “we want it to be developed with absolutely all guarantees and all assurances and, therefore, for us the plebiscite today goes yes or yes.”
“Even more, what we would like and that is what we are working together with the Ministry of Health, together with the seremis and the Ministry of the Interior, is that hopefully there will be no active case on the day of the Plebiscite,” he added.
