Bellingcat investigator Hristo Grozev admits the presence of Russian agents among the Belarusians who have moved to Kiev. Earlier, he stated that in the Ukrainian capital FSB officers are present.
Grozev told about this on the air of the channel “Ukraine 24“, commenting on the death of the founder of the Belarusian House in Ukraine Vitalia Shishova.
“We are not connected with this murder, with this death (Shishova – ed.), Because we did not know that it would happen. We followed in the footsteps of people whom we know from some other projects that are connected with the FSB, which were implemented into the Belarusian opposition. Some of them are in Kiev, “he said.
Previously, these people were seen in other “roles” – in criminal groups, then they appeared as experts on television, then appeared in Belarus as members of one of the most active opposition groups.
“Then they appear in Kiev among emigrants from Belarus. We began to check what was behind this – at the same moment we learned about Shishov’s death. Therefore, we are now checking the intersection, perhaps, of these people who have connections with the FSB,” the investigator added …
Grozev clarified that these people “definitely have a connection with the FSB” – now they are trying to find them.
“I cannot say definitively now, this requires several more weeks of investigation. We are trying to verify the connection between these people and the organization headed by Shishov,” he said.
Death of Shishov: what is known
Chairman of the public organization “Belarusian House in Ukraine”, citizen of Belarus Vitaly Shishov found hanged August 3 on the territory of a forest-park zone in the Svyatoshinsky district of the capital. On the eve of Shishova’s concubine, she said that the man went for a run and never came back.
Criminal proceedings were started under Art. 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The main two versions of Shishov’s death, which the police are considering, are suicide and murder with fake suicide.
