Believes to have seen Kim’s yacht

Wednesday reports North Korean Professional Research Platform (NK Pro) that regime leader Kim Jong-un’s yacht has been spotted near a sandy beach at his latest residence on the Hodo Peninsula on the east coast of North Korea.

NK Pro bases its information on analyzes of satellite images taken on Monday and Wednesday. Twelve days have now passed since Kim last appeared in public, which is the second longest break from the public eye for the regime leader this year.

The website believes that the sightings of Kim’s yacht may indicate that he is currently on holiday.

The yacht is 55 meters long and differs from Kim’s other yachts with its red roof. NK Pro states that it is the first time that they have observed this particular yacht at that particular sandy beach, and that it is unclear why the yacht is not anchored along the coastline directly outside the residence.

The website writes that the yacht in question was last observed in the area in 2019, shortly after Kim’s new residence was completed.

Washington Post reports that North Korea is currently being hit by heavy rain and floods, which have caused great destruction in southern and western parts of the country. Furthermore, they write that the country is particularly vulnerable to heavy rains as a result of deforestation and a lack of resources.

State media have not reported any deaths as a result of the flood, but have reported attempts to protect construction areas and power plants from the flood.
