Belgian Consumers Make Record 14 Million Electronic Payments in a Single Day

Belgian consumers made more than 14 million electronic payments at physical and online stores yesterday. Never have more electronic transactions been recorded in a single day in Belgium. The previous record was 13.8 million electronic payments, set a few weeks earlier on December 1, 2023.

The minute record was also broken yesterday. At 11:48 am, Worldline’s data centers processed a peak of 26,003 transactions.

The records are in line with the figures for the whole of 2023. 3.7 billion electronic payments have already been made this year. With still a week to go before New Year, this is already more than in all of 2022. At that time, Worldline registered 3.4 billion electronic transactions.

The top 5 days with the highest number of electronic transactions in 24 hours consist exclusively of days from this year, with yesterday December 23 being the absolute record day.
