Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kalesnikava: ‘I feared …

Imprisoned Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kalesnikava was pushed into a van in broad daylight on Monday. Kalesnikava now says she feared for her life when security agents put a bag over her head during her kidnapping.

The Belarusian authorities wanted to bring Maria Kalesnikava across the border into Ukraine, but the opposition leader has resisted tooth and nail. For example, Kalesnikava tore her passport and climbed out of the car at the Ukrainian border.
