LOS ANGELES, CA – Comedian Chinedu Unaka’s star continues to rise with a new special now streaming on Hulu, a direct result of his partnership with Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and LOL Network. The special, filmed during the Just for Laughs festival, marks a meaningful milestone in Unaka’s career, offering a platform to showcase his unique comedic voice to a wider audience.
Unaka described the opportunity as a “dream come true,” stemming from a previous connection with Hart through the LOL Network.He initially worked with Hart’s team while they were scouting talent for Just for Laughs tapings, but this Hulu special was a direct invitation. “His people reached out to my people, like ‘we love Chinedu to do this for us,'” Unaka explained. The production, handled by Hartbeat, prioritized quality and detail, creating a supportive environment for the taping. He emphasized the single-take nature of the recording, stating, “We basically had one shot to tape it too.I think I got it right.”
Unaka’s comedic journey began organically.”Comedy definitely found me. I wasn’t searching for it, but when it did find me, it felt like home,” he shared. “I just genuinely always love making people laugh and then to get paid for that still feels crazy to me.”
Looking ahead, Unaka is focused on expanding his creative output beyond stand-up. He plans to develop several television show concepts and launch a podcast, “mostly Kidding,” co-hosted with James Davis. The podcast, named after his first album, aims to provide fans with deeper insight into his humor and personal experiences. He also expressed a desire to continue collaborating with fellow comedians.
