Beijing allows home isolation for some coronavirus patients, starting with Chaoyang – Bloomberg

Beijing will allow home isolation for some coronavirus patients. Amid widespread opposition to the “zero corona” policy, which completely suppresses the spread of the coronavirus, the city of Beijing, which suffers from a record spread of infections, has made a major policy shift.

Low-risk patients will be able to self-quarantine for a week if they choose, according to people familiar with the plan. China’s current national coronavirus policy calls for the transfer of all infected people, regardless of the severity of their symptoms, to government isolation facilities.

New coronavirus infections in Beijing hit a record high of more than 5,000

Officials spoke on condition of anonymity because instructions have not yet been made public.

Calls to the Beijing Municipal Government and the City Health Commission went unanswered.
