Behind-the-scenes secrets of the film “The Humpbacked Horse”

The premiere of the famous fairy tale took place in the Oktyabr cinema Petra Ershova “The Little Humpbacked Horse”… To adapt the picture to the needs of the modern viewer, its creators abandoned the poetic form of narration, writing independent dialogues. It turned out no worse than Hollywood blockbusters! Moreover, the budget of the film was about 800 million rubles.

The guests of the secular premiere were actors Anton Shagin with my family, Jan Tsapnik with my daughter Lisa, Pavel Derevyanko, Mariya Kozhevnikova with sons and many other celebrities. Unfortunately, the actress could not come to the presentation of the tape Paulina Andreevawho played the Tsar Maiden. She was at this time on the set of another project.

For obvious reasons, it was absent and Mikhail Efremov, embodied the image of the king. Also in the picture are busy Alexander Semchev, Oleg Taktarov, Laysan Utyasheva, which were also not seen at the premiere.

Pavel Derevyanko: “The hardest thing was to walk against the skateboard”

Pavel Derevyanko played the Little Humpbacked Horse himself, who helped Ivan marry the beautiful Tsar Maiden, outwitting the Tsar himself.

Pavel said that before filming his face and chest were glued with sensors, a helmet with many wires was put on his head. Then they sat on a chair in front of four cameras and asked to show different emotions.

As the artist Teleprogramma.pro admitted, the hardest thing for him was to walk around, portraying the Horse. The same technology was used to create images of the Firebird and the Wonderful Whale fish.

Anton Shagin: “This is a story – first of all about good”

As Anton Shagin explained, in order to get used to the image of the tsar’s groom Ivan, he watched his children. His hero turned out to be kind, naive, bold and sparkling.

“Ivan is a conventional fool, so everything that happens on the screen should be taken philosophically. There is no need to play here, but a lively perception, a lively attitude. You can’t rehearse it. One thing I know for sure: each of the representatives of the film crew put a piece of his heart into the project, – said Anton Shagin. – Therefore, the picture was completed, finalized and not immediately released. It was made for people, for children. This story is primarily about good. “

Sergey Selyanov: “We shot the film in one of the largest pavilions”

Film producer Sergey Selyanov admitted that the fairy tale “The Little Humpbacked Horse” is his favorite work. In 2003, director Sergei Ovcharov showed him the script for this magical story. But at that time it was almost impossible to bring such an idea to life. However, times are changing. And the film crew was able to recreate on the screen a magical world inhabited by animated characters.

When working on the film, the augmented reality system ViewGa was used. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that with the help of computer blanks and objects, you can build a frame in advance, which greatly facilitates the filming process.

According to Selyanov, CGI artists are responsible for the magic in the film. The film “The Little Humpbacked Horse” was filmed in one of the largest pavilions in St. Petersburg.

“Working in pavilions is a traditional form of filmmaking. Only the scale here is completely different, the pavilions are the same size as ours – 14,000 meters, not even in Europe, – Sergey Selyanov told Teleprogramma.pro. “This is, of course, a lot of work.”

As the producer explained, the filming period was completed before the onset of the coronavirus, but post-production – graphics, editing, music – was already carried out during the pandemic.

The costumes should be mentioned separately. More than 300 hand-painted costumes were sewn especially for the filming of the tape only for the crowd. The richest outfit, of course, was at the disposal of the tsar, whose role was played by the actor Mikhail Efremov. His hero is a headstrong and capricious ruler, however, not without great charm. Of course, the artist himself endows the character with it.

Together, the film crew managed to create an exciting beautiful story with a happy ending, where good always wins. And even the hero of Mikhail Efremov, unlike the tsar in the tale of Ershov, certainly gets a chance for correction …
