Before the Corona summit tomorrow with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), the prime ministers will consult in advance in the evening. Hamburg’s mayor relies on more home offices. Night curfews are also weighed.
Hamburg’s mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) wants to try this evening with the other minister-presidents to find a common line for the tomorrow’s talks with the federal government to be determined. The number of new corona infections has been falling in Hamburg for days, but Tschentscher is mainly concerned about the new virus variants, which are apparently much more contagious. In order to keep the number of infections low, Tschentscher believes that home office and mobile work should be introduced even more consistently. Where this is not possible, companies should split their workforce and introduce shifted working hours so that buses and trains are no longer so full at rush hour. A night curfew is also repeatedly discussed in the town hall.
