Before buying a new smartphone… pay attention to the radiation level

Tell me – The Federal Office of Radiation Protection has recommended paying attention to the specific absorption rate, known as SAR, when buying a new smartphone. The office explained that SAR refers to electromagnetic energy, which is absorbed by nearby body tissues as heat via the transmitted smartphone. The office added that the absorption rate is measured in “watts/kg,” noting that the current limit, which protects against health risks like cancer, is 2 watts/kg. Phones with a SAR rate of 0.6 watt/kg or less are low radiation, knowing phones like the iPhone 14 or Google Pixel 7 have a rate of around 1 watt/kg.
