UTTAR PRADESH, KOMPAS.TV – A 17-year-old girl was beaten to death by her family and thrown from a bridge in Deoria City, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The incident is believed to have occurred between Monday (19/7/2021) and Tuesday (20/7/2021) evening.
According to reports, the perpetrators who threw her body off the bridge were the girl’s grandfather and her two uncles.
His own body was then stuck on the bridge after being thrown, thus attracting the attention of residents.

Although police did not reveal why the girl was killed, the girl’s mother said the perpetrator was angry with the way the girl wore jeans.
The girl and her mother had just moved into the house of her in-laws in Deoria. The girl’s father is a migrant worker in Punjab.
“He was fasting and wearing jeans and a top after taking a shower at night, and was about to pray when his father’s family told him to change. But he refused, “said the mother quoted from NDTV.
“They then attacked him with sticks, and then said they would take him for treatment, but then threw him off the bridge,” he added.
One of the girl’s aunts said that the girl’s extended family had problems with the girl and her family’s lifestyle.
