  • Lower Saxony tightens opening rules for clubs, discos and shisha bars
  • Facilities have to close again at an incidence of 10
  • The reason is high levels of infection among visitors

Lower Saxony is reacting to the rising corona incidence figures: clubs, discos and shisha bars will have to close from Wednesday as soon as the 7-day incidence is above 10. State Minister of Health Daniela Behrens (SPD) announced this. The reason she cited was the comparatively high number of infections among visitors to these facilities. So far, clubs, discos and shisha bars in the state of Lower Saxony have been allowed to open up to an incidence of 35.

There are a couple of problem areas.

Corona virus is spreading mainly among younger people

Overall, the infection process is currently well controllable with a nationwide incidence of currently 15.5, said Behrens. But there are a couple of problem areas. According to her, the virus is spreading particularly among 15 to 35-year-olds.

In this age group, according to Behrens, the vaccination rate has so far been comparatively low, also because vaccination offers have not been available for that long. Young people are therefore also the focus of the 3.6 million euro campaign with which the country wants to advertise the vaccinations from August 2nd, said the SPD politician.
