Because Auvergne is at the top of the regions most appreciated by its inhabitants

INSEE Auvergne Rhône Alpes publishes a study on the current place of residence of people born in the region. The main lesson is that “when you are born in AuRA, you stay or go back to it more than anywhere else”.
In 2019, 82% of people born in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes lived in the region (compared to 75% of the national average) and 62% in the department of origin (compared to 58% nationally). Those who lived elsewhere often resided in neighboring regions or in Île-de-France; with more frequent mobility between young people and managers.

1.2 million indigenous people never far away in 2019

One in five natives no longer resided in the region in 2019, or 1.2 million people, and lived more often in Île-de-France (for 20% of them), in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (19%) and in Occitania (18%). However, the share of these natives among the resident population is higher in the neighboring regions of Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Almost 5% of the inhabitants of these two regions come from the Aura, while they represent only 2% in Île-de-France. Mobility motivated by geographical proximity and the attractiveness of Île-de-France, fertile ground for employment.

Less native to Allier and Cantal

From a more in-depth analysis it emerges that the natives of Cantal and Allier are those who remain or return least to Auvergne (68% and 69% against 82% of the regional average). These are border departments of four departments in neighboring regions (which facilitates interregional mobility) and rural areas, therefore less dynamic in terms of jobs (which encourages people to leave). On the other hand, 80% of the indigenous people of Puy-de-Dôme remain or return to the Aura and 68% in the department.

Study or find a job

Studies, entry into the world of work, career opportunities and retirement are pivotal periods. The share of indigenous people who have left the region (18% on average) increases with age. It is 19% for ages 20-24 and peaks at 24% for ages 40-44, then decreases until age 60-64 (20%).

Very present native executives

In mainland France, only 56% of managers live in the region of origin. The AuRA region keeps 62% of its native executives, in 2nd position behind Île-de-France (69%), thanks to its cities (Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Étienne, Lyon, Grenoble) which concentrate many places of work skilled. Farmers and workers (86% and 78%) remain massively in the region given the offer of work in these sectors and the family solidarity that promotes the sedentary lifestyle of these populations.

“I could have left”: Cantal darling, Paul Boisset stayed there

Determined to leave his homeland only for the Top 14, Paul Boisset spent his sporting career at the Stade Aurillacois, despite the choices available to him.
Cantale. It is here, on the Aurillac meadow, that he marks his first goals. He was 8 years old. Paul Boisset, emblematic player of the Stade Aurillacois that he embodied until 2021, has always remained faithful to the land of him. Deaf to offers from other clubs in Pro D2.
When he joined the Aurillac pros in 2009, Paul Boisset was open to all opportunities. Even when, four years later, he sets foot in the family business, Blanchisseries Boisset.

“The idea was to integrate my brothers and my father. But I’ve always said, throughout my professional career, that if an opportunity presented itself, it would prevail over the company. “

This day has come. In 2013, CA Brive invited him to join his ranks. “At the time my contract with the Stade Aurillacois included a clause: I could only leave it for a Top 14. Christian Millette [président du club, NDLR] he refused. The scrum half blames the shot.

After the disappointment, I said to myself: “I could not take the opportunity to enter the Top 14 for reasons beyond my control, so now I am signing up for the long term at Aurillac”. I signed with the Stadium for five years. I could have left, but I didn’t want to play elsewhere in Pro D2. It makes no sense to me. It is not for lack of ambition. I could have made a living playing outdoors, but I didn’t care.

Your agent knows your location. “Anyway, at any price, I wouldn’t have left. I could have played more finals, of course … But in the end I had a lot of strong moments “, including a final in Bayonne in 2016 and two semi-finals (Brive in 2013 and Mont-de-Marsan in 2016).
“My whole family came, even my friends… It’s a special feeling, which you can only experience at home. “

At the end of his contract, he extends it by two years, until 2021. “I think it was the right time to announce it, Margaux’s father, 3, and Emma, 6, had then declared in our columns. Although the president has come back to see me two or three times, I have remained true to myself. I still feel good, but I want to enjoy my family. “
Today associated with his brothers and father at the helm of Blanchisseries Boisset, the darling of Cantal uses his DUT GEA and his professional license in logistics. “In my approach to business, I try to apply the same philosophy of sport. The broadcast has been going on for several years and, at 34, he does not regret his career, where he has been able to combine everything. “In college, I told my guidance counselor that I wanted to become a professional rugby player. He replied: “That is not a real job, it takes a real job” … I still laugh when I see it again. ”

Alexia Chorlet: “I wanted to leave, I’m happy to be back”

Alexia Chorlet in front of the front of the Le Sisisi restaurant that she takes over and will reopen in January with a friend, after fifteen years spent away from Clermont-Ferrand.

Radiant and energetic, Alexia Chorlet is above all happy to be back in Auvergne, with her family, her friends and all the conviviality that follows, after more than fifteen years away from her native land.
Left Chamalières at 20, the young woman returned at 35 to take over the restaurant Le Sisisi with a long-time friend.
“When I left Puy-de-Dôme, I wanted to discover the world. I thought it would only last a season, but I liked it and never stopped, until Covid. I chained the summer and winter seasons between Saint-Tropez and Avoriaz and trained on the pitch. At first I drove a trolley to take customers to the golf course, then I learned the service in the bar and in the dining room, ”he says.
At 27, she took a three-month hiatus in Miami. She hoped she could work there, but she didn’t get the documents to do so. “After that I went to Paris because I wanted a life a little quieter, but not too much! I worked for big houses and I was room manager in Costes, an Aveyronnais, in other words an Auvergnat! It was in Paris that I met my husband and stayed there for eight years, until Covid shuffled the cards! We lived in 30 square meters and I think we have revisited the recipe for tartiflette and truffade in all its forms. We have gained 10 kg, lost since then! “.

I wanted to go back to Auvergne for a while. The opportunity presented itself to take over Sisisi. I started with a friend. He could just be with her and here. Here are my basics. With my husband we found an apartment near where I grew up. I found my friends, my impressions, nature and this calm, you can’t hear a horn!

Come to think of it, even several hundred kilometers from Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne was never far from her. “First of all, I came back often and they regularly brought me cheeses and cured meats, too expensive and never so good, in Paris or elsewhere. Food is important. Besides, I’ve always had a lot of people from Auvergne and Toulouse around me. In Paris we met in the 2nd arrondissement, at Bouboule, a bar run by a guy from Riom-ès-Montagnes. “
Since August, Alexia Chorlet has moved “into a much larger and much cheaper apartment than in Paris. It’s crazy, I have space to store and receive and a terrace with a view! She smiles at her. I find my marks. It is certain, young man, I really wanted to leave and today I am very happy to be back in Auvergne! “

Doctor Vince, the king of galettes, returns to Vichy with many wishes

The living environment and the central location are the strengths of Vichy. It remains to expand the cultural proposals to delight other audiences.

DJ, songwriter, producer and radio host, Vichyssois Doctor Vince has returned to the spa town since 2019. A paradise after Paris. “It’s great here! Side of the living environment. But the Doctor would like his city to move in a more artistic way. He is ready to get his hands on the decks.
This 17-year-old Vichyssois turns turntables at Sheldon, Fous du Roy, Green Field, etc., where he marks his transition to hip-hop, electronics. Then, Clermont-Ferrand where he accumulates nights as a DJ and is a radio host. “I trained in live sound to accompany groups and then as a manager. “He ensures his evenings in many discos, in La Coop de Mai, works at the Printemps de Bourges, scours his studies. Doctor Vince weaves a great network that leads him in 2006 to join Paris. “I have worked with international groups. “
In the middle it is said of the good Doc that he has “the inspiration of a sniper because he draws from a catalog of extremely rare murders”. He opened for Iggy Pop & The Stooges, The Chemical Brothers, Justice, DJ Shadow. He also worked for Gérard Baste and Stupeflip. A decisive path, full of energy.
In 2019, Dr. Vince left Paris.

Paris, when you are a young adult, is beautiful. But when you start a family you have to be a millionaire not to live in a few square meters. Everything gets complicated in Paris. I lived in the 18th century, I love this neighborhood. I go there regularly to work, see friends, go for a walk with my family.

In Vichy he moved to a house he had restored, near Lake Allier. “I wanted to offer my son a pleasant living environment. My wife is Parisian but she likes to be here where you cycle, stroll in the parks. From a professional point of view, getting around is quite central. The other day, I was playing in Geneva, I took the train. For other destinations it is much more difficult! “
If he highlights Vichy’s strengths, Dr. Vince issues a warning. “There is a cultural offer but a multicultural place (art, dance, music, rehearsal room) like La Condition publique in Roubaix is missing. “

The Doc observes but also acts. “I participated in the Assises de la culture. People have a lot of ideas and they overlap. With my network, I would like to invite visual artists, musicians, tattoo artists, painters, etc. What brings people to a city is culture. It has to be radiated, expanded. The current music is missing, as there was before at the Cultural Center with Karim. We should create regular gatherings, places to listen to quality music and dance. And make room for turntables in bars, in music kiosks. May Vichy delight 30-60 years! “
This is Dr. Vince’s imperious desire to return to Vichy!
