Esperanto Park was buzzing this Sunday, April 20, as the first-ever Volleyball in the Park tournament unfolded. With the scenic Abelardo L. Rodríguez dam providing a stunning backdrop, the event drew around 50 enthusiastic couples, showcasing the region’s top beach volleyball talent.
Tournament highlights

Female division: chávez and Sánchez Triumph
Arlette Chávez and Kimberly Sánchez emerged victorious in the female division, defeating María José Vázquez and Marla Guillén in a closely contested match with scores of 21-19 and 21-15.
According to Arlette, The truth is that the round was not simple, the game was closed and at odds, but we knew we could win.
Male Division: Mata and Leal Secure Victory
In the male division, diego Mata and Alejandro Leal outperformed Ricardo Marshall and David Barranco in a three-set thriller, with partial scores of 21-10, 21-15, and 15-13.
Prize and Recognition
The champions in both divisions where awarded medals commemorating the event, along with a cash prize of 1,500 pesos, courtesy of the official sponsor.

Cecilio Hernández, the event organizer, expressed his satisfaction with the tournament’s success and the enthusiastic response it garnered.
We are very happy, first of all because of the number of couples who met for this tournament.We thought that recreational couples would meet, however in the end there was a great responses even of Bajacalifornian selects which increased the level and gave a great show to the public, since they grabbed this tournament as a fogueo. The truth that we were very satisfied.

Hernández also hinted at future plans, stating, We thought we would only do this Holy Week, however people are asking us to make more tournaments of this type on long weekend dates or summer vacations, so we will please us.
