BBVA offers a wide range of sustainable solutions to respond to a growing demand from society and help its clients make better financial decisions while contributing to the environment.
Currently one hundred percent green financing is possible. Among the variety of options of this entity we can find from the loan to acquire an ecological car, a pension plan managed with responsible investment criteria, a mortgage to buy an efficient house, or even a loan for energy efficiency works. Likewise, for companies the entity has developed products that meet these criteria and that set the trend of where the interest of customers concerned about the future of the planet is directed.
BBVA was a pioneer in the launch of this type of product. The first were the investment funds BBVA Futuro Sostenible and BBVA Bolsa Desarrollo Sostenible in 2018. It then launched the Ecological Car Loan so that its clients could finance the purchase of an electric or hybrid car with CO2 emissions below 75g / km.
Following these products, the entity ended 2019 with its first individual pension plan managed with socially responsible investment criteria: BBVA Plan Sostenible Moderado ISR; a new alternative to channel savings for retirement.
Aware of a growing demand for sustainable alternatives, BBVA announced last year the launch of the Efficient Home Mortgage, aimed at individuals who want to purchase a home with maximum energy efficiency. Now they have just completed the range with the Energy Efficiency Loan, the main objective of which is to help the client finance works and improvements in their home that reduce their environmental impact and, in turn, allow them to save a greater volume of energy.
These sustainable products also include cards. A little over a year ago, the entity also took another step forward in its commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the launch of the first recycled plastic card in Spain. A product made with recycled material that comes from different industries such as packaging, printing, automotive or construction. This pioneering initiative in Spain will be developed in other countries.
Products for SMEs
With the aim of offering a comprehensive service for companies, BBVA has launched several products:
1.-Developer loan line for the construction of high-energy-efficient homes
2.- Loan for the acquisition of an ecological or hybrid car for SMEs or self-employed workers for the development of their professional activity.
3.-Loans for ecological conversion of agricultural and livestock farms.
Products for large companies
BBVA provides all kinds of structured financing solutions. These are common products within their balance sheet needs such as the issuance of Bonds, Syndicated Loans or Project Finance.
In this same sense, BBVA within its Commitment 2025; Its climate change and sustainable development strategy, which aims to mobilize 100,000 million euros by 2025, has already managed to mobilize more than 50,000 million in green financing, sustainable infrastructure, social entrepreneurship and financial inclusion. Specifically, in 2020 alone the entity has mobilized more than 8,500 million euros in sustainable projects in Spain.
