BBC makes a turn: Rule Britannia can still be sung | Abroad

The lyrics of the songs were recently discredited after an anti-racism campaign argued that it would evoke associations with slavery. As a result, the BBC decided to only play the songs during Night of the Proms instrumentally without any singing.

The decision brought the broadcaster to a storm of criticism, after which it was decided to let the songs sing anyway. The decision comes less than 24 hours after new BBC director Tim Davies took over from Tony Hall, according to British media.
