Baywatch star Donna D’Errico (53) can’t swim: ‘Terrified of water’ | gossip

entertainment">D’Errico talks about the audition she had to do for the hit TV series from the 1990s. “All I had to do was a swim test. Only I couldn’t swim, I had serious phobia of water. I couldn’t even tread water,” the actress said. “The Baywatch swim coach asked ‘you can swim, right?’ and I said, ‘Of course! But that was a lie.”

entertainment">During the swimming test it turned out that D’Errico could not swim, to the dismay of the swimming coach. Because the actress wanted the part at all costs, she was given swimming lessons from someone from the production five times a week. Weeks later, she was allowed to swim again, but failed the test again. After taking some more lessons, she passed the third test with the heels over the ditch.

entertainment">Yet little of it has survived, says D’Errico. “To this day I cannot swim. I am terrified of water.” In particular, she remembers an episode where she had to save a little boy, but almost drowned herself. “You can also see in that episode that I’m swearing there,” she chuckles. “They never let me save anyone after that.”
