Bayern wins against Hoffenheim – RB Leipzig also wins

Berlin (dpa) – FC Bayern Munich has won the fourth straight win in the Bundesliga and has consolidated its lead in the table.

Munich beat TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 4: 1 (2: 1) and still have seven points ahead of RB Leipzig, which won 1: 0 (0: 0) against Bayer Leverkusen that evening. After three league games without a win, Borussia Dortmund achieved another success with a 3-1 (1-1) win against FC Augsburg.

Leipzig remains the first pursuer of Bayern Munich. The second in the table won the top duel of the 19th matchday through the decisive goal by Christopher Nkunku in the 51st minute. With the eleventh win of the season, coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team increased their lead over their direct competitors for Champions League qualification to six points.

The bottom of the table, FC Schalke, conceded 1-1 (1-0) at Werder Bremen after a strong first half and missed their second win of the season. Pal Dardai’s comeback as head coach at Hertha BSC ended with a 1: 3 (0: 0) at Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach secured a 1: 1 (0: 1) at 1. FC Union Berlin.

Bayern returned the favor against Hoffenheim for the 1: 4 defeat in the first half of the season. Jérôme Boateng gave the hosts the lead (32nd minute). Thomas Müller increased (43.), in direct return Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramaric made it 1: 2 (44.). After the break, Robert Lewandowski (57th) and Serge Gnabry (63rd) made everything clear.

At first it was a bit more difficult for Vice-Champion Dortmund, who climbed to fifth place at least until Sunday. André Hahn put Augsburg in the lead (10th), BVB striker Erling Haaland shot a penalty against the crossbar (21st). BVB managed to equalize with Thomas Delaney (26th), Jadon Sancho (63rd) and Felix Uduokhai with an own goal (75th) made their first BVB win in three weeks perfect.

Dardai rebuilt the Berlin team in numerous positions and relied on Rune Jarstein instead of Alexander Schwolow in goal. Nevertheless, Hertha remained in the fifth league game in a row without a win. Berlin’s Krzysztof Piatek took the lead (66th), André Silva (67th and 90th + 5 / penalty kick) and Martin Hinteregger (85th) turned the game around.

The Schalke team missed the second win of the season in Bremen despite the late substitution of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Omar Mascarell took the well-deserved lead (38th), Kevin Möhwald scored 1: 1 (77th). A late goal by Maximilian Eggestein (90 + 4) did not count because of offside. This means that coach Christian Gross’ Schalke team remains bottom of the table, two points behind 17th Mainz.

Borussia Mönchengladbach remained unbeaten in their sixth Bundesliga game in a row. Robin Knoche scored after a free kick with a head (31st) for Union, Alassane Pléa (59th) managed to equalize for Borussia, who are seventh and three points ahead of Berlin.
