Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman parted ways with Pini Zahavi after failing to find him a new club

It’s no secret that Kingsley Coman was desperate to leave Bayern Munich this summer, having made it clear that the Premier League was his preferred destination. His high salary demands have caused complications in the negotiations for a potential new deal at Bayern, similar to the situation the club went through with David Alaba before he eventually left for Real Madrid. Coman’s current contract runs through June 2023, but as negotiations for a new deal falter at Bayern, the need to find a new club is paramount for him, despite Julian Nagelsmann saying he would like the winger to stay.

Per Football transfers, Coman had implemented a sort of directive for his agent, Pini Zahavi, who also represents Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski. He had told Zahavi that he would part ways with him if he was unable to find a new club for him by the end of the summer transfer window. Of course, a new club was not found and Coman recently parted ways with Zahavi.

It was understood between Coman and Zahavi that the latter would explore the market place in the Premier League in England to try to find the best suitor for the French winger, but he was not able to get anything concrete. Instead, he only received sporadic expressions of potential interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, both of whom focused their efforts elsewhere in the transfer window. Manchester United wound up bringing in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus while Chelsea brought back Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. Neither club really had a need for Coman.

Coman had only hired Zahavi for a short period of time, and the super agent failed to do what he was specifically hired to do. It also hasn’t helped Coman’s fortunes this season that Nagelsmann has shown a preference to Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Jamal Musiala at times in the wide positions behind Lewandowski. So far this season, Coman has only made a total of seven appearances across all competitions, having only started once. The lack of minutes only lowers his appeal to potentially interested clubs.
