Battlefield 6 Lets Console Players Opt-Out of PC Crossplay

Battlefield 6 will feature full crossplay, but with a key ⁤option for console players: the ability to disable ⁣PC matchmaking entirely. According to a recent IGN⁢ interview ‍with Battlefield Studios senior console match designer Matthew Nickerson, the game will include a simple ⁢on/off toggle for crossplay. ⁣

when enabled, the system will prioritize matching console⁤ players with other‌ console players before filling lobbies with PC users. However, players on PlayStation or Xbox can wholly‌ disable PC‍ crossplay, ensuring matches⁣ are ‍exclusively with other console ⁢gamers.

“What we have on consoles is a⁢ simple exchange that is actually ‌in the ⁣game,” ‌Nickerson explained.”We have it in the⁢ game, and it’s ⁣just a simple on/off⁣ button…If you‍ are a console player, we look for other console players in⁣ a particular time frame, and if we need to fill up the lobby more, we look for PC ‍players.”

Turning off crossplay will limit matchmaking to only other console players.⁢ This feature aims to address ⁤concerns about potential⁤ imbalances between PC ‌and console players,⁢ giving console users greater control over their online ⁢experience.
