An invention presented at the CES 2022 World Electronics Show in Las Vegas impressed automotive experts.
Thus, the Gemini battery developed by the start-up Our Next Energy (ONE) in Detroit, which equipped an electric car Tesla model S, withstood only 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) without charging.
The first road test of the battery reached almost double the performance of the products currently on the market (396 miles / 637 km), the standard Tesla S, according to Independent.
The results of the new Gemini batteries “set a new benchmark for the entire automotive industry,” said Mujeeb Ijaz, CEO of ONE. “We want to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by eliminating the anxiety of autonomy, which holds back most consumers today,” he said.
“We are now focusing on the evolution of this new battery concept called Gemini TM, which will allow long-distance travel with a single charge, while improving costs and safety using durable materials.”
ONE’s Gemini battery uses an innovative design with lithium and iron phosphate, which the company says will be used on commercial trucks later this year.
The technology was unveiled at the CES 2022 World Electronics Show in Las Vegas, United States in January, where other companies and start-ups presented several battery models with high battery life.
