Bathurst 1000 Winner Victorious at WTAC with Shootout Lap

james Golding, recently crowned champion of ‍the Bathurst 1000, secured victory in the inaugural Hypercar class at the 2025 Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) held at Sydney Motorsport Park. Golding piloted the Brabham BT62 to a winning lap time of⁢ 1:24.3210s, besting a competitive field.

The WTAC, a globally recognized time ‍attack competition, draws drivers ‍and teams seeking⁤ to set the fastest lap⁤ times ⁣in their respective classes.⁢ Golding’s win adds to his​ burgeoning motorsport resume following his success ⁣at ​Mount Panorama, demonstrating his​ versatility across different racing disciplines. The Hypercar class, new for 2025, ‌featured high-performance machines like‌ the pagani Huayra R and Zonda R, ‌elevating the event’s profile and attracting significant attention.Other class victors included ⁢Adam Casmini in ‌the Yokohama Advan Tuner Class with​ a 1:35.4850s in his Toyota GR Yaris, and Alex Michalsky, ​who conquered Haltech Clubsprint with ⁣a 1:30.7180s ⁤run in his Mitsubishi Evo. Darren Bishop claimed the GCG Turbos Open title, posting a⁣ 1:26.8190s in his⁢ Mitsubishi Evo, a result ⁢finalized after Yuuki Kamakura’s disqualification due to⁤ pit ‌lane⁢ burnout celebrations.⁣

Feras Qartoumy, representing the United States, triumphed in Plazmaman Pro-Am, achieving a 1:23.2690s lap in his turbocharged Chevrolet ‍corvette C6. Tim Slade finished‌ second in the⁤ Hypercar ⁣class ‍driving⁤ the Pagani Huayra R, followed by Fraser Ross in the Pagani⁢ Zonda R.
