Ulm beats Würzburg in the friendly. That is a good omen for the games in the league and in the cup
This test match was particularly revealing: Ratiopharm Ulm hit on Tuesday in the newly opened Orange campus Würzburg with 94:85, in the near future the basketball players from the Danube city and those from Mainfranken will meet more often on the floor.
According to the schedule published on Tuesday, Würzburg is also the first Ulm opponent in the Bundesliga on November 7th. This game will take place away from home, and Ratiopharm Ulm will celebrate its Bundesliga home premiere in the new season on November 14th against Bayreuth. Also at the end of the preliminary round in the cup stand each other Ulm and Würzburg opposite. The first game in this competition will be played by coach Jaka Lakovic’s team on October 17 (3 p.m.) in Weißenfels against Bamberg, the second then on October 24 (8:30 p.m.) in the Ratiopharm Arena against Ludwigsburg and just one day later it’s at 3 p.m. in the arena against Würzburg.
The first competitive game of the new season is already on the program on Wednesday (7.30 p.m.) next week in the Eurocup and the Ulm team will have to prepare for a new opponent. Because of the high number of Corona cases in Israel, Maccabi Rishon Lezion has withdrawn from international business. The Ulm team therefore expect the successor KK Mornar Bar from Montenegro to kick off.
Isaiah Wilkins and Thomas Klepeisz were again missing in the test against Würzburg. The American was on crutches around the campus, the Austrian probably got it on the right hand. Because the colleagues took it easy at first, Ulm was 45:50 behind at halftime. Two minutes before the end of the third quarter, the gap was even double-digit (58:69). But with six points in the last minute of this part of the game, the Ulm team shortened to 67:71 and towards the end of the final quarter they stepped up again: Christoph Philipps threw his team back in the lead with 86:85 after a long time and after the 23-year-old still had scored a threesome to 92:85, the game was turned.
