Basic-Fit gyms back financially fit and ready to open NOW

Fitness chain Basic Fit can slowly reopen gyms in the different countries where it operates and has secured an additional credit facility of 60 million euros. This allows the company to absorb the loss of income as a result of the forced closure.

Basic-Fit announced this on Friday. The gyms were forced to close in mid-March in all countries where the company operates due to government measures related to the corona virus.

In Luxembourg, the gyms may open again on Friday, in France this will be the case on June 2. “We expect to be able to open again in June in Belgium and Spain,” said Basic-Fit. “In the Netherlands, the government has indicated that the expected opening date is 1 July. Then all gyms would be open again.”

In recent weeks, a lot of work has been done to make things ‘corona proof’. “To ensure that our employees can work and members can exercise in a safe and comfortable way.”

An online booking system should help manage visit times so that not too many people are doing their exercises at the same time. Walking directions are also marked and it is ensured that sufficient distance can be kept.

“The cleaning protocols have been intensified even further and cleaning stations have been installed so that customers can still clean equipment themselves if they wish,” says Basic-Fit. Finally, the ventilation has been adjusted, so that there is no recirculation of air.

The Dutch company says it has more than 2 million members in the countries where it operates.
