“Emotions were great, for many of us, one chapter of life ended, which filled us both off and on the field. What the coaches and the entire management staff did for us is something unreal. To achieve the goal – to win or win a medal – to we didn’t succeed, but we are all proud of where we have moved Czech baseball over the years, “said universal Martin Schneider, who also ends up in the national team.
The Czechs started the match for the fifth place actively and in the second and third inning they collected five points thanks to a series of hits and a home run by Petr Čech. The British approached at the beginning of the fourth inning thanks to the three-point home run of Benjamin Andrews, but the home run was also performed by Matěj Hejma and the Czech team bounced again. In the end, Martin Schneider was successful on the pitch and Vojtěch Menšík scored the last point in the seventh inning after Martin Mužík’s shot.
“Today we wanted to dedicate today’s win mainly to our coaches, all those who have been behind our program for so long. We thought more in the tournament, we wanted to win it, but it’s baseball, small things decided. It’s great that we won the match, showed we are a great performance and now it will be up to other guys who will hopefully lead the torch further, “said captain Jakub Malík.
