As a result of the health emergency, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla has been working since March on an expansion and conditioning plan for its hospital capacity to offer highly complex health services related to the demand for the pandemic.

There are 203 additional respirators that he has received to date. Due to the management and planning of the District, with the support of the national Government, acquired with its own resources and donations from the private sector, Barranquilla today has more than 600 ICUs in its hospital network. Before the crisis, he had 411.

Growth timeline

The District received the first 100 respirators from the national government in May, through the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, of which 80 have been installed on the Adelita de Char Road and another 20 on the Ciudadela Road on July 20. , as a hospital reinforcement in the city’s public network.

In addition, with its own resources, the Mayor’s Office acquired five respirators in May.

Later in June, 32 ventilators were assigned to the hospital infrastructure. On the 22nd they received four, on the 25th they were thirteen and finally on the 28th, another fifteen.

On July 1, an additional five were received for the medium complexity hospital in Puerta de Oro. In this same line, another 8 respirators will arrive.

Donations

The Bolívar Group donation has been developed in several installments. On May 28 they delivered two respirators.

On June 22, two more respirators.

This Sunday, July 5, 13 respirators are delivered: Five will go to the Ciudadela 20 de Julio Road and eight to the Adelita de Char Road.

The Santo Domingo Foundation, on two dates, delivered to the city 21 respirators, conditioned and at the service of patients on the Camino Adelita de Char, which were received on June 22.

For its part, the Promigas Foundation donated four respirators in June, received on the Camino Adelita de Char.

In the next few days, the total donation of 17 complete intensive care units will be completed, each with its respective ventilator.
