Barcelona sues journalist for racist texts about Ansu Fati | NOW

FC Barcelona has sued a journalist and the newspaper he works for on Thursday for racism. In a column, the man spoke racially about top talent Ansu Fati.

Journalist Salvador Sostres wrote in a column for the newspaper on Wednesday ABC that in the Champions League match against Ferencváros Fati reminded him of a black street vendor running from the police.

The lyrics aroused anger from, among others, Fati’s teammate Antoine Griezmann, who spoke shame of the column on Twitter. “Ansu is an exceptional boy who deserves respect,” he wrote among other things.

Sostres apologized in a rectification on Thursday, saying he just wanted to emphasize how well Fati played, but Barcelona will not let it pass.

The only seventeen-year-old Fati played a leading role against Ferencváros on Tuesday. The attacker contributed with a goal and an assist to the 5-1 victory for the team of trainer Ronald Koeman.

The victory marks a pleasant run-up to next Saturday’s confrontation with arch-rival Real Madrid.
