After 30 minutes of sweeping the Hungarian team Frenkvarozzi by five, Barcelona announced the renewal of the contracts of German Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Spaniard Gerard Pique, Frenchman Clem Lenglet and Dutchman Frankie de Jong.
Barcelona had started its campaign in the European Champions League by defeating its guest team Frenkvarozy of Hungary with a crushing score (5-1) in the “Camp Nou” stadium on Tuesday evening, in the first round of the Group G competitions in the tournament.
Barcelona said in a statement on its official website after the end of the match that it had reached an agreement with Pique, Ter Stegen, Lingleia and De Jong on extending their contracts after weeks of negotiations.
The Catalan club added that the contracts included temporary adjustments to the salary of each player due to the current circumstances that led to the crisis caused by the emerging corona virus “Covid-19”.
The extension of the Barcelona quadruple contracts came as follows:
Gerard Pique: 2024
Gerard Pique has extended his contract until 20 June 2024, and the penalty clause is worth 500 million euros, subject to the extension being subject to a certain number of entries in the 2021-22 season.
The Barcelona No. 3 player spends his thirteenth season with Barca, where he has made 548 appearances for the team.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 2025
Marc Ter Stegen extended his contract until June 30, 2025, with € 500 million set as a penalty clause.
The German international goalkeeper will thus spend more than a decade as a Barcelona player.
Climeau Lenglet: 2026
Clemeau Lenglet extended his contract until June 30, 2026, and the penalty clause amounts to 300 million euros.
The 25-year-old French defender has played 89 official matches for Barcelona.
Frankie de Young: 2026
Frankie de Jong extended his contract until June 30, 2026 – € 400 million was set as a penalty clause.
The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder has played 47 games for Barcelona and this season he has played mainly in all matches under manager Ronald Koeman.
