Neymar wants to force a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to FC Barcelona next summer, Diario Sport reports. The 28-year-old Brazilian will appear on the front page of the Catalan sports newspaper on Wednesday.
Neymar is the most important transfer target of Barça, it sounds. The Spanish champion hopes that PSG will be eliminated by Borussia Dortmund next week in the eighth finals of the Champions League, after which the ‘offensive’ can start. According to Sport Barcelona considers it necessary to snare a top player that the team can carry in the coming years, as many pillars are getting older.
Neymar meets many conditions to take on that role in Camp Nou and is supported by Lionel Messi. He must then drop the lawsuits against Barcelona. Also the Catalans have to go to the table with PSG, with which it certainly has no good relationship. Moreover, the French are not keen to let Neymar go. The dribbler is stuck in the Parc des Princes until mid-2022.
According to Sport however, there is an escape route. From next summer, Neymar can unilaterally terminate its contract through FIFA. The world football association must then determine a financial compensation for its club. The Neymar camp knows that this amount will be around 180 million euros. The Brazilian can use that option because he is over 28 years old and has had three seasons at PSG.
In the meantime, Barça hopes that a walk from Neymar to FIFA will not be necessary. Just like last summer, a new transfer soap seems to be in the making anyway, says Sport.
