Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet their rivals this Monday in the Champions Group Stage

Defending champion FC Barcelona and debutant Real Madrid will meet their rivals this Monday in the group stage of the 2021/22 Women’s Champions League, which will be drawn from 1:00 p.m. at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland).

The Catalans start as headliners as current champions, which is why they did not have to contest the qualifying round, as did Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea, the winners of the leagues with the highest coefficient, which complete cup 1.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid, which is making its debut in the top continental competition, had to earn its presence in this group stage in a tough tie against Manchester City, which it beat thanks to its victory in the English fiefdom (0- 1) after tying one at Valdebebas.

David Aznar’s team will be included in Cup 3 along with Swedish Hacken, Italian Juventus and Hoffenheim Germano.

Cup 2 will include French Lyon, once dominator of the top continental competition and Levante’s executioner in the qualifying round, German Wolfsburg, English Arsenal and Icelandic Breidablik. In number 4 are the Ukrainian Kharkiv, the Swiss Servette, the Danish Koge and the Portuguese Benfica.

Two teams from the same association will not be able to coincide in a group, nor will they play on the same day and the clubs from countries with severe winter conditions (Sweden and Iceland) will be assigned a position that allows them to play away on the sixth day.

The first two of each group will reach the quarterfinals. The dates of this group stage will be 5/6 October; October 13/14, November 9/10, November 17/18, December 8/9 and December 15/16. The draw for the quarters and semifinals will be held on December 20.
