“Banque du Liban Reports $1.6 Billion Balance of Payments Surplus and Decrease in Foreign Assets”

The financial data published by the Banque du Liban revealed that the balance of payments witnessed a surplus of $1.6 billion, compared to a deficit of $954 million in February of 2022.

According to Al-Jadeed TV, this means that the dollars that entered the economy exceeded the dollars that left it, and this may be related to the decline in imports from abroad and the increase in the value of expatriate remittances to Lebanon.

On the other hand, new figures showed a decrease in net foreign assets in the Banque du Liban by $501.7 million, with an increase in foreign assets of commercial banks, and this may be related to the continued intervention of the Central Bank in the market through the “Sarafa” platform.
