Photo: Congress-Tourismus-Würzburg It is not only a coveted collector’s item and fits in every wallet – the new Würzburg zero euro note is the current trend souvenir in the Tourist Information in the Falkenhaus, according to a press release from Congress-Tourismus-Würzburg. Würzburg is one of numerous European cities that honor outstanding personalities or buildings in their city history with a limited edition of the zero euro banknote. Congress-Tourismus-Würzburg (CTW) had the zero euro note produced and dedicated it to the famous master builder. Neumann could already be seen on the earlier 50-mark note, as he is considered one of the greatest geniuses in German art history. As a builder of the Baroque era, he created unique churches and castles, not only in Franconia, but from Lake Constance to the Rhineland. His masterpiece, the Würzburg Residence, was built under his direction from 1720 to 1744 and is considered one of the most important baroque palaces in Europe. In addition to the residence, Balthasar Neumann created the Käppele and numerous other buildings in Würzburg. So it is no coincidence that it is surrounded by the Würzburg city panorama on the zero euro note. The souvenir note will be launched this year to mark the 300th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the Residenz and with a view to the 40th anniversary of the inclusion of the Residenz and Hofgarten on the Unesco World Heritage List next year. Balthasar Neumann knew how to bring all the masters of their discipline together in such a way that the result had outstanding technical and design qualities. A high quality standard was also placed on the zero euro note: the new Würzburg souvenir looks like a real euro banknote, feels exactly the same and has the original security features. The purple note is produced in the greatest secrecy by a specially licensed money printer and is even recognized by the European Central Bank (ECB). It is printed on original European paper and measures 135 x 74 millimeters. In addition, the bill has the usual security features such as watermarks, holograms, transparent windows and copper strips. An individual serial number makes each copy truly unique. 4000 copies of the Würzburg zero-euro note are available for a single price of three euros exclusively from the Tourist Information & Ticket Service in the Falkenhaus on the market square. There is also a special edition limited to 1000 pieces with five stars as an additional collector’s feature for a single price of six euros.
