VKIBC gives young talented dancers the opportunity to demonstrate their dance technical, artistic and musical performances in the categories of classical dance, choreography and contemporary dance. The contestants were judged by qualified and internationally renowned online dance experts.

Latvia was represented in the competition by the 5th grade student of the Ballet School Aleksandra Treimane and the first year student Kate Marija Bloma. In the final, both participants have received invitations to participate in master classes at the world’s best ballet schools in London and Paris, as well as at the International Ballet Festival “Ballet Stars in Jurmala”.

2nd year student Sofia Belkina was also preparing for the competition in 2020, but due to the situation in Covid-19, the competition was unexpectedly canceled in March last year. Therefore, it is gratifying to find an opportunity to run the competition online this year.

During this unusual and difficult time, classical dance teachers – Rita Harlapa and Ludmila Vikanova – helped the students to prepare for the competition. Ballet artists Alise Prudane and Milana Komarova helped to prepare variations of contemporary dance.

The professional jury of the competition from Latvia was represented by the classical dance teacher, choreographer of the Riga Ballet School, the founder of the international Baltic ballet competition Regīna Kaupuža and the artistic director of the Latvian National Ballet Aivars Leimanis.
