BALL – Noronha Lopes demands counting of physical votes (Benfica)

The list led by João Noronha Lopes issued a statement criticizing the process surrounding the vote. “Within 24 hours of the elections, there is no electoral regulation that could be consulted or a protocol to follow”, he accuses.

The high point of criticism goes to the electronic voting system. “The information we have, after consultation with experts, tells us that the voting system is vulnerable to computer attacks. In light of this, we demand that the polls be opened for a count of the physical vote », he says.

Here is the statement:

“The Bureau of the General Assembly continues to deal with tomorrow’s electoral act without the professionalism that the institution requires.

Yesterday another meeting was held. We expected to be received by the Chairman of the Board of the General Assembly, but instead we were received by the Secretary General of the Club, without any member of the board.

We hoped to have an answer to the questions posed in the past few days. We left without any clarification. 24 hours before the elections, there is no electoral regulation that could be consulted or a protocol to follow.

After a lot of pressure from the partners, the physical vote will coexist with the electronic vote. However, to our amazement, the ballot boxes will be at the polling stations just to decorate, as the MAG President refuses to confirm a count of votes in the ballot box.

Thus, everything points to that there is no physical vote count on election day, contrary to what the President of the Bureau guaranteed in a letter dated 6 September. This position is incomprehensible and constitutes a threat to the integrity of the electoral act.

The information we have, after consultation with experts, tells us that the voting system is vulnerable to computer attacks.

In light of this, we demand that the polls be opened for a count of the physical vote.

An institution with the grandeur and social relevance of Sport Lisboa e Benfica cannot have elections organized in this amateur and very non-transparent way.

The most important answer will be given tomorrow. We call on all members to participate en masse for change. »
