Balearic Islands registers 111 positive cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours | Radio Mallorca | Hour 14 Balearic Islands

The Balearic Epidemiology Service, dependent on the General Directorate of Public Health and Participation, has confirmed 3,041 cases of people with coronavirus in the community so far, 111 more than this Wednesday.

Thus, following the new accounting criteria of the Ministry of Health, which exclude the 105 positive serologies prior to May 11, it has notified 2,936 cases in the Balearic Islands to the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES). Of these reported cases, 2,581 correspond to Mallorca, 121 to Menorca, 218 to Ibiza and 16 to Formentera.

On the other hand, 2,216 people have been cured, 36 more than this Wednesday. Likewise, the Epidemiology Service has not reported any new deaths from COVID-19 and the accumulated in the Balearic Islands is 230 people who died due to the coronavirus.

These data assume that there are 595 active COVID-19 cases in the community, 75 more than this Thursday.

The Health Service, for its part, has reported that there are 791 people treated for the spread of SARS-CoV-2. Of these people, there are 99 cases in hospital care, nine in the ICU, and 692 in primary care. These cases include people with past COVID-19 infection.

By islands, in Mallorca there are 94 hospitalized people (48 of which for social reasons, not clinical ones) and of these eight are in intensive care units. 658 people are followed at home by the primary care service.

In Menorca there is no person admitted to the Mateu Orfila Hospital for COVID-19 and 18 are treated at home by the primary school.

In Ibiza there are five people hospitalized, two for social reasons and one in the ICU). In addition, 14 confirmed cases are followed in Ibiza at home with care from their health centers and two in Formentera.

As for health professionals, there are 100 who are under surveillance (95 in Mallorca, none in Menorca and 3 in Ibiza) and 17 who have active contagion, all in Mallorca. In total, 384 cases have been reported among healthcare personnel since the pandemic began.

The laboratories of public hospitals in the community have also carried out 199,904 tests: 156,806 PCR, 10,816 rapid antibody tests and 32,282 serologies.

Regarding the situation in homes for the elderly, the centers have not reported any new positive. Therefore, there are two residents with active infection in two different centers and a positive worker in another. In residences for people with disabilities there are no active cases.
